RAYMOND ROTH SENTENCED.  Raymond Roth, the Massapequa man who faked his drowning in a botched insurance scam and was convicted of impersonating a police officer and other charges in an unrelated case was sentenced today.  Here's the latest updates from reporter Bridget Murphy.

MISSING PORT JEFF MAN DEAD. A Port Jefferson made who was reported missing earlier this week has been found dead. Suffolk County Police said Wednesday that the body of Daniel Schecter, 47, was located by New York State Police on Slide Mountain in upstate Shandaken. A Suffolk County police spokeswoman said the death was “noncriminal.”

FBI JOINS SWAT HOAX PROBE. On the cover of today's Newsday, the FBI has joined the search for a video game prankster whose call to Long Beach police claiming he killed his mother and brother inside a Laurelton Boulevard house brought heavily armed officers to the residence and highlighted a potentially lethal nationwide trend.
