HEMPSTEAD TOWN BOARD MEETING 

Reporter Aisha Al-Muslim was live-tweeting from this morning's Hempstead Town Board meeting, where officials held a public hearing on a proposal to require carbon monoxide detectors in public places. Here are her latest tweets.







SEARCH FOR MISSING WOMAN

Suffolk County Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman (pictured below) who was reported missing last week. A family member of Elizabeth Fridenberger, 25, reported her missing on March 15.  Police said the woman, who goes by Beth, is "undomiciled" and frequents the Mastic-Shirley area, which is where she was last seen.

Fridenberger is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches tall and 135 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Seventh Squad or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

 The cover story of today's Newsday looks at the outcome of the five-month-long trial of five former aids of Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff. They were convicted on all counts of conspiracy and fraud Monday, a clean sweep for the government in the first criminal trial stemming from the $20 billion scam.

GLEN COVE PROPERTY BATTLE


The lead story of today's "Our Towns" section focuses on a fight ensuing over a private property in the City of Glen Cove. Mayor Reginald Spinello says eminent domain could be used to seize the property on behalf of a developer planning to build apartments and retail space there, but the city could face legal opposition.
