DOG THROWN FROM CAR GOES HOME. The male pit bull thrown out the window of a pickup truck last month in Mastic Beach has been reunited with its family after being treated by a veterinarian for head trauma, the Suffolk SPCA said Tuesday. The SPCA has also upped the reward to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever threw the dog from the vehicle.
 
DWI CHARGE IN LIE CRASH. A Medford man was drunk and speeding late Tuesday when he rear-ended a car, then sideswiped a sport utility vehicle on the Long Island Expressway, leaving a family of four injured, Suffolk County police said.

NEW COP CONTRACT. On the cover of today's Newsday, Suffolk County lawmakers approved the third and final major police contract Tuesday despite warnings from legislative budget officials about the total cost of the agreements.
