CUOMO'S BUDGET. In today's front page cover story, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is set to propose a state budget Tuesday that boosts school spending and cuts business taxes by banking, in part, on future surpluses

APARTMENT-HOTEL COMPLEX PLAN. On the Our Towns cover, the developer of a proposed 195-unit apartment-hotel complex at the former Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury is seeking Hempstead Town approval to change the zoning from industrial to cluster residential housing.

NY RISING. Freeport residents can quiz Long Island Sandy recovery chief Jon Kaiman tonight at 7 p.m. at South Nassau Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 228 South Ocean Ave. It's billed as a Q-and-A session with Kaiman, followed by breakout sessions on more specific NY Rising issues.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN BOARD. The board holds hearings on zoning issues in Yaphank and Middle Island among other issues at its meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill, Farmingville.

HEMPSTEAD VILLAGE BOARD MEETING. The Hempstead Village Board meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall, 99 Nichols Ct.

LONG BEACH RETIREMENT BENEFITS. Tuesday’s Long Beach City Council meeting is expected to include a discussion of changing requirements for managers’ retirement benefits. The 7 p.m. meeting is at City Hall, 1 W. Chester St.

WILLISTON PARK TRUSTEES. The Williston Park board of trustees is scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall, 494 Willis Ave.
